The District of Katepwa has been approved for up to $50,000 in funding from Trans Canada Trail through the Trans Canada Trail Catalyst Grant Program.![]()
Weāre proud to receive this #TransCanadaTrail grant to enhance our section of the Trail.![]()
This funding will support:
⢠Paving the remaining 2 km of trail, including safe turn-out points
⢠Crack sealing and surface repairs along the existing 10 km where required![]()
These upgrades will improve safety, accessibility, and the long-term durability of our 10 km Trans Canada Trail corridor connecting Sandy Beach, Katepwa Beach, and South Katepwa. Completion of this final paved section will create a fully connected route across the District for residents and visitors to enjoy.![]()

Bylaw No. 2026-03 | District of Katepwa![]()
Council has adopted a new Animal Control Bylaw to provide clearer, fairer rules around dogs and cats in our community. This bylaw replaces the previous version and focuses on safety, respect, and responsible pet ownership.![]()
Key things residents should know:![]()
š No running at large
Dogs and cats must be under control at all times when off the ownerās property.![]()
𦮠Physical leashes are required
Owners must carry a physical leash when their pet is off their property.
Remote or electronic leashes can be used as a training aid, but they do not replace a physical leash when an animal needs to be secured.![]()
š„ Passing people or other animals
When approaching or passing someone (or another animal), pets must be immediately secured, including being physically leashed to prevent contact.![]()
š© Clean-up is mandatory
Owners must pick up and properly dispose of pet waste:![]()
On public or private property (other than their own)![]()
On their own property regularly
Bagged waste must go in a garbage receptacle ā not left on trails, roads, or parkland.![]()
ā ļø Fines for non-compliance
1st offence: $100
2nd offence: $250
3rd & subsequent offences: $500
(Each day an offence continues counts as a separate offence).![]()
This bylaw is about keeping shared spaces safe, preventing unwanted encounters, and setting clear expectations for everyone.![]()
